Hi,

My name is Andrew Hutcheson. I'm in 8th grade in Washington NJ. As you can see I'm a big fan of Harry Potter. So is everyone in my family. I can't wait for the sixth book! But there is only one thing I like more than Potter and that is the Lord of the Rings series. Next time we visit New Zealand we're going to see some of the locations where LOTR was filmed.

My Dad and I are up-dating this page. Don't hold your breath.

Here's a picture taken through a night vision scope Mom & Dad gave me for Christmas. I was on a Klondike weekend with the Boy Scouts.

Pets:

Check out my dog Lady. She is a wire-haired terrier. She knows three tricks: sleeping, licking and barking. She's gettting old now and going blind but we love her. I'm her seeing-eye-boy.

Here's my goldfish Goldie. He doesn't do tricks.

I now have two lizards (Anoles) called Frodo and Bilbo. They are hard to photograph because they like to hide behind a plant. Here's Frodo.

In 2001 I went on a twelve day Mediterranean cruise on the Golden Princess with my Mom and Dad and my grandparents. We visited Turkey, Greece, Italy, Monaco, France, Spain and stopped overnight in Germany. It was VERY HOT, over 110 degrees Fahrenheit in some places. Click on the place names to see photos.

New Zealand 2000

Mt. Ngaruahoe

In 2000 my Dad and Mom and I visited New Zealand where my Dad comes from. The trip took about 20 hours but it got confusing because New Zealand is 18 hours ahead of New jersey. It took 13 hours to cross the Pacific from Los Angeles to Auckland. When we crossed the International Date Line we skipped St. Patrick's day completely!

As we approached New Zealand the sun was rising. My Dad took this stereo view out the window. Cross your eyes and you can almost touch the clouds. Click on the image to download a larger version. When we landed in Auckland the Captain let me sit in his seat.

We climbed Mt. Ruapehu, which is an active volcano and a ski field. It was summer so there was no snow. We climbed through fine powdered ash and huge lava bombs from the last eruption in 1996.

My Mom and me climbing Mt. Ruapehu.

Below is a 4 foot high boulder from the 1996 eruption. Cross your eyes and bring the two images together to see it in 3D. This area looked like Mars, except for the blue sky and the ski lift. The blue cone in the far distance is Mt. Ngaruahoe which is a Maori word that sounds like 'nah-ru-a-ho-ee'. It is also an active volcano.

Gettysburgh

In October 2001 my Boy Scout troop camped overnight in Gettysburgh, PA. We hiked around the battlefield and saw President Eisenhower's house and farm. The battlefield was sad. Over 50,000 soldiers died there in just three days. Terrorism reminds us we can't take that freedom for granted.

People:

Some of my friends from Cub Scouts at Merrill Creek Reservoir. I'm now a Boy Scout.

My friends Thomas and Ronnie looking at my web page. Notice the bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. Notice anything else?

My Gran in New Zealand. She and I both love reading and Harry Potter.

Watching the sun set with Uncle David in New Zealand. I love visiting him and Auntie Gerd. They have a new dog called Micke that I hope to meet next time we go.
